Dr Florian Block joins DFC
Design Fire Consultants (DFC) is delighted to announce that Dr Florian Block has joined us as an Associate Director to lead our Structural Fire Engineering (SFE) team. With over 20 years of experience, Florian has been instrumental in some of the UK’s most iconic structural projects, including the Battersea Power Station redevelopment and the London 2012 Olympic Stadium. His thorough understanding and expertise in Structural Fire Engineering principles will enhance DFC’s ability to provide innovative and practical fire safety solutions tailored to complex structures.
“We are excited to welcome Florian to the DFC team,” said Iain Macfarlane, Director. “His extensive knowledge of Structural Fire Engineering will enhance our capabilities and allow us to develop even more comprehensive fire safety solutions that integrate seamlessly into architectural designs.”
Florian holds a degree in Structural Engineering from the University of Technology Darmstadt in Germany and a PhD in Structural Fire Engineering from the University of Sheffield. In his role, he will work closely with his team of experts, focusing on integrating cutting-edge fire safety strategies into the design and analysis of structures.
Outside of work, Florian is an avid sailor, climber and photographer, often spending his free time outdoors capturing new perspectives and tackling challenges in nature.
Florian will work alongside Iolanda Del Prete, Associate, who recently joined DFC, to implement SFE practices in complex designs and ensure the safety and sustainable performance of our projects.
