Project Description
Middlesbrough Sports Village is a flagship sports complex incorporating football, rugby, athletics and other outdoor sports facilities in addition to an exemplar sports centre. The sports ‘hub’ accommodates a range of facilities including indoor sports arena, fitness studio and indoor specialist athletics training facilities for private users and national teams and coaches.
Design Fire Consultants were appointed to provide fire engineering guidance for the hub building, from concept through to construction and handover. The fire strategy for the hub building met various challenges such as increased occupant load and connection to the outdoor grandstand, enlarged compartments and adoption of open escape stairs.
