We are proud, as a member of the design team, to have provided our engineering expertise for these award-winning projects which represents DFC’s capability in multiple sectors.
Here are comments from our engineers on the projects;
Roy Little, Senior Associate, project engineer on Special Exhibitions Gallery at Science and Industry Museum, Manchester; “It’s great to see the Science and Industry Museum be rewarded for their work to re-image the lower ground floor of the museum’s Grade II listed New Warehouse into a public gallery.
Working closely with the design team, we were able to assist with key design aspirations such as the opening up of the front of house stair providing a clear link between ground and lower ground spaces. Additionally, we worked to maximise the occupancy capacity whilst working within the constraints of the existing building and without impacting other areas of the building.
We are proud to be part of the design team to delivery this amazing project. And we hope it’s something the public enjoy for years to come.”
Matthew Eyre, Senior Associate, project engineer on 2 New Bailey, Salford; “Two New Bailey was an interesting project with multiple structural fire engineering aspect to enable the external structural frame. The most rewarding aspect for me was building the relationship with the contractor, architect, and other design team members throughout stage 5 and assisting with the successful handover of the building. It is great to see the team and project be acknowledged.”
Matt Whitehead, Senior Engineer, project engineer on Valette Square, Salford; “Valette Square was a great project to work on, where the open stairs arrangement presented some challenges overcome by qualitative assessments and bespoke fire engineering solutions. It was very rewarding being involved in the huge Salford Masterplan development linking the cities of Manchester and Salford with a great design team.”
