Roy has commented;
“Over the past 17 years I have worked as a fire engineer for a number of organisations, working to deliver fire safety solutions for a wide range of building types. Over those years I have had the pleasure of working with truly inspiring individuals within the sector.
They instilled in me an ongoing drive to continuously improve standards and best practice within fire engineering. Despite the industry’s best efforts, too often fire engineering is still associated with value engineering, ‘what can we get away with’ and the like. Fire engineering is critical to the safety of the built environment, and the built environment is fundamental to everyone; we should all be focussed on continuous improvement to displace this misperception.
Working with the Board of Directors, through the implementation of their strategic objectives, I hope to continue others’ work, spreading the message of the importance and value of the fire engineer to a wider audience. This includes supporting the development of fire engineers and continuing to raise the standard to which we should be held.
Electronic voting is open so keep an eye out for the announcement email from the IFE which will give you all the information you need on me (and the other candidates) and let you know how you can vote and have your say.”
All IFE voting members will receive an email with the voting link.
