Overview of the Role
As an engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a diverse array of technical fire engineering aspects and project management tasks within your projects. Working collaboratively alongside the DFC team, you would be entrusted with ensuring the successful execution of our projects.
You would take ownership of setting up the administrative and financial aspects of our projects with meticulous attention to detail. Representing DFC, with support, at multi-discipline design team meetings, fire specific workshops and client events, you would collaborate effectively with clients and other construction professionals to gain valuable project management experience.
Active participation in technical discussions and decision-making processes would be a cornerstone of your role. You would be expected to engage in constructive, articulate dialogue both internally and externally, fostering an environment that encourages openness to new ideas and perspectives.
To facilitate your professional growth, you would receive comprehensive support in enhancing your commercial and technical knowledge. Recognising your areas for development, you would be guided in bridging knowledge gaps in alignment with the requirements for chartership and professional qualifications.

Suitability
To thrive in this role, you should:
- Hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant STEM (science, technology, engineering or mathematics) field, or an equivalent qualification.
- Demonstrate proficiency to converse technically in English, a crucial skill for effective collaboration within our team.
- Recognise the value of office presence to foster a collaborative environment for team growth. DFC value a balanced approach that allows our team members the flexibility to thrive in the vibrant atmosphere of our office and in the comfort of their own home when needed.
- Possess experience in an engineering consulting role, preferably within a fire engineering environment.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the UK construction industry, including familiarity with the project procurement process, RIBA stages and the pivotal role of a fire engineer within this framework.
- Showcase a commitment to continuing professional development (CPD) having begun the journey towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, by identifying the relevant route applicable to your individual situation and qualifications.
- Have experience in managing time, deliverables and training of graduate engineers within a fire engineering capacity.
