Project Description
The MACQ Auditorium is a new performing arts venue to form part of the Sunderland Arts and Culture Quarter development. The building will house a multi-use auditorium serving a capacity of approximately 700 guests under a standing configuration. The building containing the auditorium extends over two storeys providing a bar, entrance foyers, staff and performers’ facilities and plant spaces.
DFC is the fire engineer in the design team, developing the fire strategy for the scheme. One of the key challenges in the scheme is to develop a means of escape strategy to consider the different occupant loading and auditorium seating configuration within the realms of the operational aspiration for the space.
