Project Description
New Wakefield Street is a new development for Unite Students set in the heart of Manchester. The development comprises 32 storeys of student accommodation providing 603 beds in a combination of multi-bed clusters and studios. The cause and effect for the building has been developed to meet the underlying requirements of the Unite Student brand, but also to address the evacuation requirements of a high rise tower.
DFC’s involvement will be from concept design through to project completion, and work is currently being undertaken alongside Bowmer & Kirkland to ensure the fire strategy is implemented correctly during construction. This ongoing role will include site inspection work, detailed product selection and commissioning of fire safety systems prior to handover.
