Project Description
The University of Leeds are undertaking a partial refurbishment of the Grade II listed Parkinson Building. Designed by renowned architect Thomas Lodge, the building is famed for its 57m tall clocktower, a prominent landmark in the city.
In order to ascertain an understanding of the requirements for a partial refurbishment, a full building review has been undertaken by DFC, necessitating an understanding of how the fire strategy has grown and changed over the building’s lifetime, and how it operates today.
Design Fire Consultants supported the refurbishment by documenting the existing strategy, guiding the design team on site with regards to implementing the strategy, and providing a working building under contemporary fire safety legislation.
