Project Description
The Nestle HQ building (also known as ‘Project Hubble’) involved the extension of the existing Product Technology Centre, with new state of the art office accommodation, reflecting the function of the research and development facility. The extension incorporates a triple height tree-lined street connecting existing and new accommodation, with open balcony work and social spaces.
A detailed fire engineering solution was provided, which involved 3D smoke modelling using computational fluid dynamics (CFD), balanced with a detailed assessment of the means of escape and human behaviour in fire. The fire strategy ensured that the building could remain completely open, which was an aesthetic priority.
