Project Description
The Forum is a combined library, council office and civic building that is the first phase of South Northamptonshire Council’s £45 million regeneration project in Towcester. The building has accommodation arranged around a central open atrium, with an independently accessible council chamber designed to accommodate a range of activities from council meetings to weddings.
DFC was appointed by Cartwright Pickard Architects to develop a fire strategy for Building Regulations approval and to provide ongoing design advice during construction. A key challenge included the assessment of heat radiation from the curved facade to demonstrate the prevention of fire spread to the adjacent sites.
The Forum was shortlisted for Best Corporate Workplace in the BCO Awards 2016.
