DFC Christmas Event, York 2023
By: Malachi Fearnhead, Apprentice
This was my first Christmas event at DFC. It was a great opportunity to meet people I’ve not had the chance to meet before from our various offices. It was an early start up in York for the cooking competition which was held at The Cookery School at The Grand Hotel. I’m no cook, but this was a brilliant event nevertheless and I gained some new lifelong skills in the kitchen.
Unfortunately, my team did not win the competition, but the food was nice, and it was a good team building event with some of the people I’m yet to have the chance to work with. The cooking competition was followed by an end of year presentation, where the Directors spent some time reflecting on the past year and discussing what is to come in the year that lies ahead of us.
After the presentation we headed to Pitcher and Piano for the annual Christmas quiz! Most of the questions were a tad before my time, so I wasn’t a great resource for those. The emoji and guess the location quizzes were my favourite.
We headed to Ambiente for tapas to conclude our Christmas event, where I tried various foods such as mussels and goats’ cheese, which I have never been tempted to order before.
Overall, I really enjoyed the event, socialising with everyone and of course the food!
