DFC’s Eoghan Takes on Charity Cycle Challenge!
Eoghan Given, a devoted cycling enthusiast and dedicated triathlete from our Leeds office, had a great opportunity in taking part in the Colliers Sportif North 2024 – Charity Bike Ride event took place on 7 June in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. This charity bike ride, hosted by Colliers and powered by Struggle Events, raised funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, an independent charity providing a lifesaving rapid response emergency service to five-million people across the whole of Yorkshire.
Gathering at the Weetons Garden Centre in the scenic Crimple Valley, participants enjoyed breakfast butties and coffees, the all-important ride fuel, as they prepared for the day’s adventure. During the safety briefing and equipment check, the heavens briefly opened before the riders set off on a breezy Yorkshire day for a 50-mile journey around the picturesque Harrogate area. The route, carefully chosen to suit participants of all skill levels and allowed all riders to rotate, share the burden up front, and getting to know each other whilst out on the road.
The gathering brought together construction professionals and engineers from various companies, providing a valuable opportunity for the riders to connect with existing clients and industry colleagues within the built environment sector.
Eoghan has commented; “Although it does take some organisation to make the time to attend, amongst a busy working and family life, the benefits for both the company and individual attendees are great! It’s absolutely brilliant to be able to get out on the bike and meet like-minded people from the construction industry.”
Jonny Joinson also a keen cyclist and a Director at DFC has commented; “DFC’s commitment to sustainability, health and well-being goes beyond the workplace. Eoghan’s participation in this event is a fantastic example. It shows how we encourage our employees to lead healthy lives. We also support initiatives like cycle-to-work schemes, demonstrating that keeping fit and minimising our impact on the environment are key priorities here at DFC.”
Furthermore, DFC is delighted to share Eoghan’s participation in the forthcoming charitable “Outlaw Nottingham Weekend Triathlon: Iron Distance” in support of Alzheimer’s Research UK. This full distance triathlon comprises a 2.4-mile (3.9 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.2 km) bike ride and a full marathon of 26.2-mile (42.2 km), amounting to a total distance of 140.6 miles (226.3 km).
Eoghan has commented; “I’ve chosen to do this for Alzheimer’s Research UK as it’s a charity that is impacting my family and loved ones on a daily basis.” To support Eoghan and find out more about the event, click here.
