We are extremely proud of our colleague Parina Patel, Associate who has been nominated as one of the final four candidates for the upcoming 2022 Institution of Fire Engineers’ Board of Trustee Directors election.

The elected member will take an active role in shaping the future of the fire profession for a three-year term of office. The Institution is the international organisation for fire professionals and this role is as important as ever in raising standards and ensuring competence within the profession around the globe. The Board is responsible for the overall direction and control of the Institution, ensuring effective governance in order to deliver its mission, vision and values.

Members are advised to check their email inbox to access the voting site and cast their vote. Voting will close on 30 September 2022 at 16:00 BST. The results will be announced at the IFE’s Annual General Meeting.

Parina has commented; “I’m honoured to have been nominated as one of the final four candidates in The Institution of Fire Engineers Board of Directors election.

Over the past 12 years I have worked as a fire engineer developing strategies and solutions for a wide variety of buildings and sectors. I’m a Chartered Engineer and I work on all aspects of fire engineering projects from concept design, construction and handover right through to expert witness work.

I have spent my working life being the exception rather than the rule. I’m keen to push diversity in the sector and show that people of all genders, ages, backgrounds, and ethnicities can thrive and make a difference. To be truly effective, fire engineers should reflect the society they serve. 

If elected to the IFE Board of Directors, I will bring my enthusiasm for problem solving to the IFE’s Board to help achieve its strategic goals and ensure that the organisation promotes diversity and inclusion in all its operations.
