Thomas Clarke Joins DFC
DFC welcomes Thomas Clarke to the team. Thomas has recently relocated from South Africa to join DFC and brings with him over 10 years of experience in fire engineering. During this time, he has developed a strong knowledge of fire engineering in a wide range of projects in numerous countries.
Thomas is an Associate Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers as well as a Professional Member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers. He has a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering. Thomas’ master’s degree research involved an assessment of live fire safety training environment of local firefighters with the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and how the minimum requirement for firefighter garments can be used to determine firefighter tenability. His article “Assessing the Safety of Training Firefighters with the Minimum Requirements for Firefighter Garments” has also been published in an international peer-reviewed journal, Fire Technology in 2021.
He has also successfully completed his postgraduate studies in (a) routine application of standard fire design codes and principles, and (b) and critical analysis of routine and analysis of complex non-routine fire behaviour. Other studies include Structural Fire Protection from Lloyd’s Maritime Institute.
